Terms of Service
Last updated: February 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the BARZERO mobile application ("the app") provided by BARZERO ("we", "us", "our"). By installing or using the app, you agree to these Terms.
1. Description of the service
BARZERO is an emergency communication tool that creates a peer-to-peer mesh network using Bluetooth and Wi-Fi Direct when cellular signal is unavailable. It includes features such as offline messaging, SOS broadcasting with GPS location, and optional SMS alerting to an emergency contact.
2. Important safety disclaimer
Factors outside our control — including device Bluetooth/Wi-Fi hardware, Android system restrictions, battery level, physical obstructions, and the absence of other BARZERO users nearby — may affect performance.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use BARZERO. By using the app you represent that you meet this requirement. If you are under 18, you represent that a parent or guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to use BARZERO to:
- Send false SOS alerts or emergency signals.
- Harass, threaten, or harm other users via mesh messaging.
- Transmit unlawful, abusive, or offensive content.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or tamper with the app.
- Interfere with or disrupt the app's infrastructure or other users' devices.
Sending a false SOS may be illegal in your jurisdiction. We reserve the right to suspend access to our cloud services for abuse.
5. No warranty
BARZERO is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or reliability in emergency situations. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or effective in any specific emergency.
6. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, BARZERO and its developers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of — or inability to use — the app, including any failure to deliver an SOS alert or emergency SMS.
7. Emergency contact SMS
By entering an emergency contact's phone number in the app, you represent that you have obtained that person's consent to receive automated SMS messages from BARZERO in the event of an SOS alert. Standard message and data rates may apply to the recipient depending on their mobile carrier.
8. Third-party services
The app uses Google Firebase and SimpleTexting to deliver emergency SMS alerts. Your use is also subject to Google's and SimpleTexting's respective terms of service. We are not responsible for the availability or actions of these third-party services.
9. Modifications to the app and Terms
We may update the app and these Terms at any time. Continued use of the app after an update constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. We will update the "last updated" date above when changes are made.
10. Termination
You may stop using BARZERO at any time by uninstalling the app. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access to our cloud services (Firebase, SMS relay) at our discretion, particularly for violations of Section 4.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions.
12. Agreement to Receive Text Messages
